Our current time is laden with so-called "Evangelical Christianity" whiich is often heavy with shame, guilt, and other forms of "religious abuse."  Many people who grow up in such religious institutions reject the "Christianity" that was presented to them by those churches.   The problem is that often the values of these churches are not in fact actually "Christian."

"Creed or Chaos" is a set of simple essays on actual "Christian" dogma and doctrine, which is often in sharp contrast to the beliefs people receive in these churches.  These essays are succinct, easy to read, and can help clarify what actual "Christian Beliefs" are.

"Creed or Chaos" is a restatement of basic historical Christian Doctrine, based on the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed, similar to but somewhat more densely written than C.S. LewisMere Christianity. Both sought to explain the central doctrines of Christianity, clearly and concisely, to those who had encountered them in distorted or watered-down forms, on the grounds that, if you are going to criticize something, you had best know what it is first.

Village Health Foundation  From their website:  "The Village Health Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed in 2001, by Jewel Thais-Williams. Our main mission is to provide affordable, accessible, and effective professional services in complementary medicine to the community. We originally began as a natural healthcare clinic offering nontoxic treatments for people with HIV/AIDS.

Our activities have expanded to include treatments for a wide range of diseases. We treat clients who are at risk for, or who have already developed diabetes, hypertension, high blood pressure, arthritis, heart disease, chronic diseases, and/or have any variety of pain issues.

Our patients come from all walks of life, and all are welcome. Many of them are Latino and African Americans who have a high risk for HIV/AIDS, diabetes, hypertension, prostate cancer and breast cancer. We provide innovative, culturally-relevant preventative health education as well as therapy. Our treatment and educational programs offer practical tools for reducing the risk of disease; for those who have an illness, we offer tools for learning to live with it."

The Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles is a great spiritual resource if you are looking for a Christian understanding of spirituality that is non-judgemental, yet challenging, and supportive of personal growth and spirituality, in a community of faith.

The Episcopal Church is a distinctive Christian tradition where the rich elements of Sacramental faith merge with a deeply personal relationship with God.  We are particularly suited to folks who either have no experience with any "organized religion" or folks who have been spiritually brutalized by other churches.  Our ministry focuses on "Feeding Hungry Hearts" in a world that longs for presonal spirituality in the context of a loving and diverse community.

The Wilshire Boulevard Temple One of our country’s most highly respected Reform congregations, Wilshire Boulevard Temple has been responding to the needs of the Los Angeles Jewish community since our founding in 1862 as Congregation B’nai B'rith, the first synagogue in Los Angeles.

Today, Wilshire Boulevard Temple is many things: a center for Jewish spirituality and celebration, a place for lifelong learning and friendship, and an engaged congregation where every person makes a difference. We have two locations to serve our families: our historic Erika J. Glazer Family Campus in Wilshire Center/Koreatown, and our modern Audrey and Sydney Irmas Campus in West Los Angeles. Wilshire Boulevard Temple offers services and worship, adult programs, life cycle events, volunteer and social action opportunities, cultural events, and learning to its members. Many of our cultural activities are open to the wider public.

The Islamic Center of Southern California  The Islamic Center of Southern California takes pride in its heritage of diversity, open-mindedness, civic engagement and community building. Get to know what makes us tick — our mission, our approach to Islam and and our definition of the American Muslim identity, all of which shape the character of our community.

The Islamic Center of Southern California is an independent organization whose primary goal is the emergence of an American Muslim identity. Its purpose is to practice and share the values of Islam by providing religious, educational and recreational facilities for members of the public.
